Overall, an interesting week. I had surgery and things went well overall on Friday. Was notified that I'd have a morning surgery on Thursday. Had significant concerns going into surgery and was second-guessing everything. Continuation of the denial and grieving stage of knowing that I'd be rehabbing in normal life would not continue until the rehab process was complete, which will take approximately 9 to 12 months. I thought Dr. Backes did an absolutely wonderful job of just being very matter-of-fact about the situation, and the entire team at Orthopedic One did wonderful. The anesthesiologist did his block and felt great going into the weekend. Have been really thinking about what's the best way to recover from this injury. The major theme that kept happening going into this surgery was the amount of people who told me the importance of rest. I think everyone knows that I tend to be a maniac, and there's a benefit to resting and recovering. Dr. Quiet or Dr. Rest is the one that I struggle with the most.
This has been a forced check-in. I think the biggest blessing going into surgery was the rainbow that came out beforehand. I still believe that this is a sign of hope. There've been a bunch of setbacks in my life, and it's amazing to see the things that come out of that. Very grateful for all the support that I've received from friends and family and patients going into the surgery.
