Training Log 9.13.26
Overall:
Hard to believe 9/11 was 25 years ago. This motivated me and a lot of my generation to join the military. I miss the unity that took place nationally right after this event. Wishing peace to all the lives impacted directly or indirectly from that event.
Another up and down week. Sleep was really poor. Made a decision and we should have a roof at some point in the near future and my brain is finally able to refocus on getting systems set up to provide better patient care.
Went to visit one of my friends at a surgical rehab facility and it was a stark reminder of how limited time can be with people. He escaped death for now and I was just glad I got to sit with a friend. He was in a facility two of my grandparents were in and I was a little taken aback from the feeling you get when you associate illness or situations with a location. He made some positive changes about 5 years ago, and I like to think sled pulls, walking, and discontinuing smoking gave us more time with him and for that I’m thankful.
This was really the first week back to normal training with the exception of BJJ. Overall felt really good to do some movements I haven’t done in 13 weeks. I missed squatting and deadlifting. Pec felt tight on pull ups a couple weeks ago and feels completely fine doing sets of 3-4 reps. Deadlifts bothered my chest and I think I was just run down.
I’m really happy with the equipment that came in from EliteFTS. The fitness facility is something I’ve dreamed about for 20 years and seeing a dream become reality is really a cool thing. It reminds me of LJ, Bartos, Coach Watts, Coach Stevens, and all my training partners over the years. It’s odd, but the weight room has always been a place of refuge for me. Get your demons out, feel better, spend time with good people, help each other get better.
Got to present with one of my buddies Anthony Castore at the Athletic Club of Columbus which made me realize that the main question people are asking is “what should I do.”
I need to spend some time coming up with my own educational schedule and feel that that improved, dropped off, improved, and has dropped off again.
