Overall:
Challenging week. Ruptured my pec tendon and confirmed that with planned surgery next week. From a patient perspective it was interesting how much denial I was in. I more or less diagnosed myself at the time of injury, then did mental gymnastics up until I got the MRI trying to convince myself that it didn’t happen. As much as I hate the thought of surgery, I think it’s the long term responsible choice even though it’s going to be a frustrating 3-6 months just to get back to a functional level. It’s interesting how much you take things for granted. It’s going to be a challenge to change my kids diapers and get them to and from school in the morning. It’s going to be tough not wrestling with the boys for a while. It’s also hard losing my two favorite outlets for an extended period of time.
Thank goodness for staff, friends, family, and most importantly my wife. Thank goodness for dictation and some of the modern technology. I’m lucky that patients have been understanding so far. It’s nice when people are nice.
