2025 Year In Review & 1.4.26 Training Log

Updated: Jan 11

 2025 Year in Review

Relationships

  • Grade: C

  • Spouse:  Very up and down year as a spouse. Have not done a good job intentionally blocking off one on one time for my wife. Got stuck too often in the grind of life instead of focusing on quality connection

    • Mitigation Strategy: schedule dates QOW Wednesdays

  • Kids:  Spent tons of time with the kids but think we're getting very close needing one on one time with them as well. Oftentimes we found ourselves playing one on one defense instead of getting them in their own individual environment. It's wonderful to see them bond.

    •  Mitigation strategy:  Consider starting family board meeting with kids

  • Dog:  didn't spend enough time working on obedience work over the past year. She got in her exercise, however is the lowest on the totem pole in the household.

    •  Mitigation strategy:  obedience work during ball time in the morning

Social Life

  • Grade:  B

  • BJJ:  Was a lifesaver this year. Implemented Sauna Sundays. Prior to training on Sundays I've been drinking coffee with a good friend which has been a blessing.

  • Friends:  Fairly good job maintaining contact using Facetime. We did a poor job of turning our home into a gathering place. Have tried out a couple different social groups which has been beneficial

Joy

  • Grade:  D

  • Happy:  I spent way too much time in the fire this past year. Instead of focusing on things to be grateful for I only focused on what could be improved.  When I'm able to get out of the present moment in my head I realize we're blessed in our life is wonderful. Chronic fatigue and pushing made this more challenging.

    • Mitigation Strategy - gratitude journal

Health

  • Grade: C

  • Diet:  Too much caffeine and alcohol. Did a good job getting sufficient calories in was more intentional about ensuring adequate protein intake.

  • Quiet:  Chronically sleep deprived. Up and down about getting to bed on time with a target goal of 930p.  did not have enough quiet time throughout most of the year. Have dedicated Saturday mornings to be thinking time which has been greatly beneficial.

  • Movement:  overall feel like this ended on a more positive note. Definitely have recency bias where in Q3 and Q4 was making progress running the average 2 Savage program and ensuring I was hitting minimum earning amounts at jujitsu. Successfully was able to consistently run for the first time in what feels like a couple of years. Thought I did a good job implementing Sprint intervals after the workout on Tuesday which are very efficient and having the long run days implemented

Career

  • Grade: A

  •  Overall

    •  After getting over the initial shock which took approximately 6 months,  things have been trending in the right direction. The grade is in context of the stage of my career. I felt like we were able to accomplish a fair amount in 2025. Hired two staff members, technically three including hiring myself and  was able to pay myself.  I was able to identify an accountant and attorney I'm comfortable with.

  • Physician:

    •  Presence with patients was overall very good. Change the layout of the exam room multiple times and was surprised how much the layout impacted the flow of a patient visit. With the move to the new building I need to be intentional about the setup of the exam room.

  • Business Owner:

    •  I paid a lot of stupid tax and have a long way to go when it comes to managing staff and figuring out how to optimize my time. I feel like we're improving our position to make an impact long term. I feel like the main thing is trying to help patients reduce suffering over time. This continues to be the primary focus of the business

  •  Military

    •  This was a minimum effective dose a year.

Creativity

  • Grade: A

  •  between starting the business and being very consistent with the blog slash writing a book this was the most creative I've been able to be in a long time. It felt good to be able to create on a more consistent basis

Finances

  • Grade: A

  •  This was a massive learning year. I was very glad I was able to find an accountant who's focused on education to find some clarity. There was massive amounts of decluttering that took place. Was able to diversify assets between the business and still maintain our savings goals. I was able to set up some new goals and get an idea of ways to solidify this for the future. Goal for the year is to meet with an attorney To set up legal documentation

Education

  • Grade: C

  •  by and large this was a bare minimum year. Probably the least productive I've been in the past decade when it came to the formal education curriculum.

    •  Mitigation plan: have a plan with deadlines

Spirituality

  • Grade: B

  •  The nice thing about having a private practice is being able to have spiritual conversations with patients on a consistent basis. Between working on the spirit gem course and multiple books on spirituality I would say was overall a good year. As stated above I more of a focus on gratitude

Home Environment

  • Grade: C

  •  Currently invaded  by two toddler terrorists who destroy everything on a daily basis. Most nights the house has picked up enough where we can light a candle and enjoy it. If the office constitutes one of my homes it also had a very significant  facelift making it a more comfortable environment. Still need to find ways over time to make our home more of an Oasis for both my wife and myself

Training Log 1.4.25

Overall:

The end of the holiday season was busy and exhausting.  Was fortunate over the past two weeks have had had a fair amount of time for reflection and planning. One thing I wanted to consider for the next year was simplifying the focus in each of the major categories. I like to put the Ann you're in a review below. It probably should have been an independent article.  Kind of an odd week from a training perspective based on my wife's work schedule.
