Learning 

Podcasts: 

  • Attia - Anxiety 

    • Great conversation on anxiety and anxiety based disorders

    • Treatment tends to stem around exposure

    • Discussed health anxiety - fear of death or that discomfort is an underlying greater issue than it is 

    • Concern about people putting false labels as the cause of someone’s state of being unwell - this was taken as a critique of functional medicine and some niche treatments  

    • New classification in DSM V - TR has OCD and PTSD no longer identified under Anxiety category 

    • Highlighted that a loss of function is what classifies something as a disorder

    • People utilizing psychology services post COVID is way up and people are using more visits to address one issue 

    • Worry is normal 

  • Knowledge Project

    • Competing point of view that AI is not the end of working

    • Will be a paradigm shift similar to the iPhone coming to the market or the internet. Life is different yet largely the same. 

    • Some people are getting used to AI much quicker than other people 

    • Larger market impact of who will be the key players. It’s likely it will be some of the big tech players today because they have the scale and capital to build these programs

    • Loss of nutrition in the soil. Slower episode so did not complete

    • Rituals can improve someones life

    • Values should impact someones life and you should try to match what you do to your values


Courses: 


Books: 

  • The Fourth Fuel - On ketogenic diets and the history of metabolism research. Less technical than I thought it would be. Some thematic points on how dogma has limited the growth of research into this field. How pharma and convenience trumps a more effective treatment 


Training: 

Overall: Very poor week of training. Both kids were sick and this was a minimum week at best. Achilles is overall feel better. Hex bar blew me up. Felt like my hips were going to explode even getting into position. BJJ was way down due to scheduling and illness.
