Training Log 8.24.25

Updated: Aug 25

Learning:

  1. Podcasts:

    1. Attia

      1. Sugars and artificial sweeteners.

      2. Primary debate is on metabolic effect and for weight loss. There probably is a continuum - full sugar -> diet -> flavored -> unflavored when it comes to weight and health.

      3. Allulose seems to have the least impactful effect

      4. Xylotol seems to improve oral health

      5. There are side effects of other sweeteners.

    2. Huberman

      1. Stem cells and autism

        1. Research ongoing to see if there’s a potential benefit. Still largely unknown if there’s benefit. Caution to those desperate and just getting random MSCs injected.

      2. Light

        1. Impact of light on circadian rhythm. Can take some precautions with early morning light if traveling and can also use it to your advantage.

    3. WCI: Investing Questions

      1. Primarily around asset allocation.

    4. Knowledge Project: Outliers Bragg

      1. Canadian blueberry tycoon who got into telecommunications. Was able to capitalize from a small market. Life long commitment to the business and did not exit. Continued working into his 80s. More comfortable with leverage than most people. Cared about cash flow over time and always was looking towards the future.

    5. Chek: Heart Math - Rolling McCraty

      1. Metaphysical conversation around the heart and the mind. Provides rationalization that there is a centralized energy force within people. Names for this include soul, consciousness, and heart center. It acts as a bridging force between the brain and body. Most of the vagus nerve fibers are afferent, meaning sending signals from heart to brain (80% conservative estimate). Most powerful force is love and compassion.

  2. Lectures:

    1. Spirit Gym - 4 lectures

      1. Duality - Contrast that you need an object and an observer. You cannot have one without the other.

      2. Trinity - In every world religion. Reflection of the life cycle - birth, living, death.

Training:

Overall: this week was improved, but I continued dealing with my achilles. Only towards the end of the week did it feel more normal from an ADL standpoint, still don’t feel comfortable pushing this from a training standpoint. Sleep interruptions this week and felt this throughout the rest of the week. Endurance felt decreased likely due to poor sleep.
